Once Upon A Time (Season 3)

Note: The three posts (on OUAT Season 3, 4 and 5) were written on different days but posted on the same day.

Elloh

I’ve just finished season 3 of OUAT yesterday and I can officially say I like the series. And this time I can happily announce that I’m giving the third season 6.7/10. I miss Pan, to be honest and I’m hoping he will return and make everyone miserable again. Okay, before I forget the whole point of this post, let’s talk about this season (minus the first half – read my last review if for some reason you’re curious).

First off, I want to give a big round of applause to Rebecca Mader as the newest villain on season 3, Zelena the wicked witch. Apart from the awkward scene with her father in the flashback, I really like how she played the character –never have I wanted to stuff a shoe into a villain’s mouth before. That’s a good thing, though. She played the annoying villain so good her prettiness was hidden behind her wickedness I don’t even feel sorry for wanting her gone. Her laugh is probably the less typical evil laugh, but it works and to be honest almost as good as Rumple’s. The way she talks –as I said, you’d want to stuff her a pair of shoes. And her expressions, you’d want to stick the palm of your hand on her face just so you’d not be affected by it. Again, the casting team did a great job choosing the villain.

I also adore Regina and Henry’s relationship development. I remember during season 1 and 2 feeling a bit annoyed by how Henry did not appreciate Regina’s presence despite her still being the villain then. It’s clear what Henry means to her, and that’s why I didn’t like how he clung to Emma all the time. In season 3, it’s really nice to see Henry treating her the same way he treats Emma. And for that and his growing character, I’m slowly liking Henry (although Gilmore is still stiff sometimes).

In the last post, I mentioned how Emma and Hook didn’t make sense. They still don’t, but in the last three episodes of this season I kinda saw a glimpse of their chemistry, especially during the dance. I think I found the answer to my last question –it was not Jennifer, it was her character. When she blended in with the lifestyle of the Enchanted Forest, when she wore their style, she and Hook made a bit more sense. But I still don’t agree with this pairing. To be honest I think Red and Hook probably make a better couple.

Oh, and I’m happy to announce that Rumple and Belle are married. Yay! But of course the writer had to make it based on a lie. If it wasn’t a lie, the proposal would've been perfect. Yeh Belle gave Rumple his dagger so he's free, he said he's touched that she trusted him enough to do that so he said he was trusting his dagger with her as he is forever hers. Yep that's the proposal. But of course, the dagger was hella fake. Oh, Rumple.

Anyway, on to the plot. I feel the bit with Zelena is not that memorable (plus I’m very forgetful) except for her character and the part where Regina rekindled her relationships with everyone. Oh and that part when Aurora was being selfish and a coward and rewarded a flying monkey form but I promised myself not to get worked about it so whatever.

I personally like the last three episodes best because this is where Emma stopped being stubborn and let go of her fear, which I think was the main reason I wasn't fond of her during season 1 to half of season 3. She’s more likable in these three episodes, and more like a royalty. And I loved it when she finally missed Snow, I was like IN YOUR FACE EMMA.

So yeh. I think that’s all I wanted to say about this season. I’m going to stop watching the series for a while. The next season is going to be interesting though, because it’s time for Frozen nonsense. I love Elsa. Judge me.

Before I end this entry, here are some of the best scenes from the last three episodes (mind you, they are all Rumple’s):

S03E21

Rumple: Why haven't I killed him (referring to Hook)?
Hook: Let's just say we bury the hatchet. (smiles)
Rumple: Yes but why not in your skull?
Hook:

Emma: (to Belle) Dark One told me about you.
Belle: Did he? (turns to Rumple)
Rumple: No. Go away a-and read a book or whatever it is you like to do.
Belle: You could ask nicely.
Rumple: I could also turn you into a toad.

S03E22

Rumple caught up to Emma in his abandoned castle which supposed to have no way out. When Emma went back to the other world through a portal, Rumple drank a forgetting potion (you have to have watched the series for this to be funny).

Bye.
